Terms of Use

Feel free to express yourself. Share your opinions on what’s going on in the fishery or about fishing, or even life in general.

We will accept all posts that have some sort of general connection to anything of interest to S.O.F.A. members or commercial fishermen within certain guidelines.  First, the sole reason for the post can not be to specifically abuse or harass any one person. This does NOT mean you can’t criticize or even condemn someone’s actions or behavior, particularly as it affects the fishery, it just means you can’t launch purely personal attacks on someone using our soapbox.  If you want to do that, get your own soapbox.

Two Points:

1. Please fact check yourself.  Posts with argument based on factual error or posts wrongly naming specific people or groups and accusing them of actions they haven’t done are liable to be tossed without being  published.
2. Please spell check and go over your posts.  We don’t have time to edit your posts and won’t.  However, if we read them and they are so full of spelling and simple errors as to make them hard, or impossible, to make sense out of, they will probably not be published.  We don’t expect posts from professional writers, but please make an attempt to make your arguments and your posts readable if not reasonable.

Remember, you and you alone are responsible for the contents of your posts and any negative consequences arising from any posts will be yours and yours alone.  If you have a serious problem with a post that you think crosses these bounds or crosses any legal boundary, please don’t start a flame war over it but bring it to the attention of the blog administrator and let them deal with it.

Spam posts and abusive posts will be removed and their authors will be deleted from the database.

Try to be nice and keep things fairly civil, but do please let us know how you feel. Again, we will never edit content because we disagree with your opinion although we reserve the right to add a disclaimer (see below) to posts pointing out a particular post is not the work of the Blog administration nor does it reflect the opinion of S.O.F.A. or the webmaster.  We also reserve the right to remove posts that violate the terms of use expressed here.
